Unlike other fillers, Sculptra is a bio-stimulator, meaning it does more than just temporarily boost volume. The main ingredient, poly-L-lactic acid, fills wrinkles while also stimulating the body’s natural ability to produce collagen.

Increased collagen production increases skin elasticity, enhances firmness, and reduces the appearance of wrinkles. Where most fillers restore lost volume, Sculptra restores volume and helps rebuild your skin’s inner structure and support.

You may feel a slight pinch when we inject Sculptra into your skin, but we provide a topical anesthetic beforehand to help minimize pain. Our nurse injectors at Cosmedica Aesthetics will always prioritize your comfort during treatment. We also offer Arnica to help reduce swelling and bruising after treatment.

The number of sessions needed varies. During your consultation, one of our nurse injectors will go over a number of topics with you. They’ll go over your medical history, answer any questions you may have, and determine how many injections you will need and where to place them. We collect all the information we need to customize your treatment for achieving your unique needs and goals.

The recovery time varies from person to person. Recovery for Sculptra is minimal for most clients, with some able to return to regular activities right away. Treated areas may be red, swollen, and bruised for the first 2 to 7 days. Bruising can be covered with makeup. We have great cover-up solutions from our GloMinerals makeup line.

Yes, there are some key post-care instructions for you to follow. It’s important for you to keep these in mind after you receive treatment. Post-care helps you to maintain the results of your treatment and be mindful of side effects.

• Massage the treated area for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days.
• When using ice packs, hold the ice pack to the treated areas gently for 3 to 5 minutes a few times a day.
• Avoid blood thinners alcohol, and NSAIDs for at least 2 days
• Take Arnica (orally or topically) according to package instructions.
• If bruising occurs, continue taking Arnica supplements, drink fresh pineapple juice, and/or take bromelain supplements to help bruising resolve faster.

Immediately following your treatment, you will begin to get a feel for how Sculptra will look. Over time, Sculptra will absorb into the tissue of the skin and replace lost collagen.

You’ll see your full results beginning to form after 1 month and continue to develop over the course of 3 months. These results can last up to 2 years, with yearly appointments for upkeep and maintenance.
